Full time living in our Bigfoot RV. – The Burrow
I mentioned the extensive amount of camping and sailing that Ken and I have done over the years on our About Page. This knowledge came in handy when it was time to make the decision about what type of RV we would be happy traveling in.
We did a lot of research and leg work, combined with our past experience sailing and camping, and some luck, found our perfect home….The Bigfoot 29G. It didn’t happen quickly. And our advice would be, if you are entertaining the idea of full time RV travel, take your time with the decision of which home will be right for you.
The Bigfoot RV page will share with you what features led us to choose this one. Also what modifications, maintenance and repairs required. Bigfoot RV owners are a small group, please like and follow if you are one of the lucky few. We would love your input.
Salon Changes and Upgrades
The dinette was awkward and cumbersome to us. As such, we elected to permanently make it into a sofa. We ditched the dinette cushions since this photo and replaced them with a memory foam, twin-size mattress. It works as a great lounge to watch TV.
Two club chairs were opposite the dinette. We removed the chairs to install this double drawer desk and secured it to the wall. Since the chairs were heavy, we eliminated unwanted weight by getting rid of them. Hanging baskets mounted on the end of the desk give a drop-off spot just inside the door.
Galley
An older coach like ours (Bigfoot 29G, 2002), has some dated interior elements that sometimes cannot be removed. We were unable to remove the gold framed mirror glued to a premium galley space wall. By using these great stick-on shelves, we were able to camouflage it. The racks really add needed storage to my galley. What we could change were all the knobs in the coach. We replaced the gold tone with a more modern black knob. Also replaced were hideous, short berth curtains. We added more elegant full length ones.
Berth
I always loved the bedroom decor in my sticks-and-bricks home so I opted to bring it along in the RV (some of it anyway). We used matching duvet material to partially recover the valances. Additionally, a coordinating fabric was used to cover the wire-race covers in the upper corners and the old speakers located in the cabinets. We installed new carpet on the floor.
Head
We are fortunate to have a bathtub in our Bigfoot and here I have added more racks above to carry along a a bit of garden. The large skylight above keeps the mini orchids happy and sunny.
